Kathy Hiltons father is Rick Hilton, a real estate mogul and hotelier, who has been ranked as one of Americas top 400 richest people by Forbes. As her father and mother divorced when she was 5 years old, Kathy lived with her mother in Los Angeles. She began modeling at age 9. Though she studied business administration at California State University, Northridge and graduated with a Bachelors degree in 1988, Kathy did not pursue her education further to become an actress or a model. Rather than that she started investing money from modeling assignments into real estate companies; $200 for 4 weeks of work on camera seemed like good money for an 18-year-old.

Career Beginnings

In 1981, she graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a degree in Business Administration. Throughout college she worked at a local bank and as an intern for Congressman Jim Talent and Jim Ryun. She decided to leave her full-time job after school to work on James Talent’s campaign full-time, which launched her career as a political fundraiser. Kathy decided to leave Washington D.C and head back home to St. Louis where she became involved with American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) and ultimately joined forces with Bob Squier in 1999. This association lead Kathy into national politics when Bob was hired by George W Bush’s presidential campaign during his 2000 bid for presidency.

Kathy has been involved with a lot of charities, particularly related to mental health. She founded Young Mental Health USA and has served as an ambassador for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
