Mansa Musa Net Worth

What is Mansa Musa Net Worth? Mansa Musa is the richest man in Africa and the first black billionaire in history. He also holds the Guinness World Record as being the richest person ever lived, with an estimated net worth of $400 billion dollars when he was still alive (his current net worth in 2021). In fact, Mansa Musa was so rich that he used to pay his people to pray, and once threw $50 million dollars in gold during a Friday prayer just because he wanted to see the crowd’s reaction when the coins were thrown into them. That’s probably one of the most expensive Friday prayers in history…

Who is he really

Mansa Musa, king of Mali from 1312 to 1337, was a wise and wealthy man who devoted his reign to making Mali one of history’s wealthiest empires. His skill as a ruler was in no small part due to his own personal wealth; as I pointed out earlier, he is believed to have made many charitable donations while alive. Even after death, he continued to shower his country with gifts. During his lifetime, according to an Arabic historian, Mansa Musa gave away so much gold that its value decreased by 50 percent. This phenomenon is known as selling at takkeen, which we will explore later on in more detail.

Wealth and power

In his day, Mansa Musa was one of richest men in history, and he ruled over an empire that stretched across North Africa, part of Europe and Western Asia. Born into royalty in 1280 AD, he ascended to power after a military coup in 1312 and inherited control over an enormous territory: a fourth of Africa (including parts of modern-day Nigeria), half of Spain and a chunk of western Arabia. In 1324 he made his first Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca with 500 slaves each carrying 4 pounds (1.8 kg) of gold—weighing up to 50 pounds (23 kg)—in their hot little hands.

When was Mansa Musa born

King Mansa Musas’ birthdate is unknown. The earliest known recorded date of his life is October 13, 1280 AD. This King became a Muslim around 1230 AD. He ruled Mali from 1307 – 1332 as its king during which time he was considered as one of Africa’s wealthiest rulers. Some estimate that Mansa Musas’ net worth in modern day currency would be $400 billion USD though it should be noted that these figures are not consistent across all resources with various reports giving varying estimates.

His influence on West Africa

In Western Africa, he is remembered primarily for his extensive influence in public works and good governance. As a leader, he is viewed as a just and incorruptible man who preferred to live a modest lifestyle despite his great wealth. The legacy of Mansa Musas’ wealth remains present in today’s world. During his reign Mali was one of Africa’s richest and most powerful states which served as an inspiration to later explorer’s that led to European colonization on the African continent. In 1670 Zara Yaqob, King of Ethiopia traveled from Shewa through eastern Sudan; he made a pilgrimage to Mecca with 360 camels carrying 60 pounds of gold each.[18] Mansalessé would also visit Djenné and Timbuktu making mansucripts for them.

Mansa Kankan Musa’s death

Mansa Kankan Musa died in 1337, leaving behind a powerful empire. Historians are not quite sure where he was buried but most agree that he lies in Timbuktu. When Mansu Musa died, his brother took over as leader of Mali and tried to keep things going as they had been with Mansu Musa in charge. But Mali didn’t have another ruler as capable or ambitious as Mansu Musu. The young rulers that followed were interested only in pursuing their own short-term goals and didn’t pay much attention to statecraft or keeping up trade relationships with foreign countries.

One of the Richest Kings in History

King Mansa Musa is hailed as one of history’s wealthiest kings. As a result, he earns a net worth of $400 billion. If you compare his wealth to that of today’s wealthy king, Bill Gates, who has a net worth of $91.9 billion at present, King Mansah Musata was so much wealthier than him that he would be almost ten times richer than him. Can you imagine it? Mansah Musata earned his title the king of kings because he was richer than any other king in history. His name appeared twice on The World’s Billionaires List in 2009 and 2010 with his net worth valued at $400 billion each time!
